It’s a given: the kitchen is the heart of the home. That’s why it’s the craziest, messiest, most mind-boggling room to keep organized (and looking sparkly + fine). Which is why I’ve compiled 14 easy kitchen hacks and ideas for achieving primo organization. 👌🏻
I’m often asked how the heck my home is so dang clean and organized. It all comes down to ritual. I’m the type to tidy up in the morning, letting those dinner dishes soak off the grime at night.
To top it off, there are small steps I’ve taken to drastically improve kitchen functionality as well as the everyday look and feel. A simple routine combined with easy and inexpensive changes are a winning team.
LET’S GET SHAKIN’ BACON!
Drawer Organizers + Knife Tray
I have a secret hobby of collecting all kinds and sizes of cooking utensils. I also function much better when I know where they all are. That’s the main reason I’m in love with my bamboo drawer organizers and in-drawer knife tray. It’s the little things that make a big impact.
Under Cabinet Paper Towel Holder
Cluttered countertops are the worst, and paper towels are particularly unsightly. At least you can get a funky-colored toaster with a window in it.
Neither here nor there, what’s the best way to hide your paper towels? Tuck them away inside the cabinets. Pick an ideal location—I recommend underneath the sink. Glam it up with a sexy brass towel bar.

Dish Towels, Not Just Decor
Don’t get me wrong, I love decor for decor’s sake. Yet dish towels are that and a bag of chips. I have a hefty pile of my favorite dish towel at the ready. They’re soft, pliable and absorbent. Cotton is key.
Wipe countertops smudges clean with a touch of warm water; dry hand-washed dishes on one (I ain’t ever found a dish rack I liked); toss one on your shoulder as the entertaining chef; or make a run for it when a plant bb gets overwatered.
A simple, classic design looks good rumpled on a countertop and is ready when you are. Tres chic. Effective, too.
Produce Baskets
Fact: one cannot have enough produce baskets. Why are baskets so cool? You can use them for everything and they’re an easy thrift find, too. If you’re having a big dinner party, BOOM. Style your sweet produce in baskets. Need to utilize cabinet or pantry space better, POW. Throw that shit in a basket. Fridge feels disorganized, BAM. Cordon off the sloppiness with … you guessed it … a basket!! Daily fruit and produce pickens never looked better.
Glass Jars / Storage Containers
Much like baskets, glass jars and storage containers are your simple, stylish friend (especially with a precious cork topper). If you’re rockin’ open shelving, glass jars are a great way to add texture and visual interest. Teas, coffees, or dry items like rice, beans, it looks great, and not to mention, it reminds you of what you’ve got available to use.
Stagger canister sizes to create a statement or opt for the same size to achieve a more uniform look. Ya can’t go wrong.

Soap Dispenser
Ugly bottles begone! This is the quickest fix of them all, especially if you’re buying dish soap in bulk. Why not show it off in a pretty dispenser? An opaque or amber bottle is an excellent fix for some funky-colored dish soaps.
Step Stool Storage
My ceilings are super tall, anddd the cabinets are, too. When planning my kitchen design, I considered space to tuck away this cute wooden step stool I stained years ago. I’m a shortie, and being able to access the top level of my upper cabinets encourages me to use them. Also, doubles as extra seating in a pinch.
If you don’t have cabinet space available, buy a really cute hook and don a stylish, foldable step stool instead.
Cookbook or Tablet Stand
If you’re going to cook, it might as well be in style. An attractive cookbook or tablet stand is both functional and easy on the eyes for everyday display. Who needs crud all over their favorite cookbooks and handwritten recipes? Not me.
Pots and Pans
The most terrifying of them all (that traumatic clanging sound though). Personally, I’m a big fan of piling pot and pans in size order—simple and to the point. Lids, that’s a whole other story. Mount a cabinet door lid organizer rack and keep those tops on and outta your way.
Glass Cruets + Dispensers
Similar to glass jars, glass cruets and glass dispensers are great for displaying condiments. Two items my husband and I use on the daily are olive oil and MCT oil (yaass brainpower). Glass cruets—btw one of the easiest thrift items on the market—make these everyday items attractive and accessible, amassing both function and form. There’s also a lovely little glisten in the daylight.
Garbage Bags
My utilitarian products are stored waaay up high in my pantry. To avoid hopping up there every time the rubbish goes out, I store a handful of unused garbage bags at the bottom of the pull-out trash bin and replace the bag right over it. Works pretttty great.
Junk Drawer
Not everything has to be organized, right? Well, it’s the junk drawer, so there’s at least something there. 😂 Allow yourself to have one or two drawers to show off your junk. Screws, rubberbands, flower food, super glue, stickers, hammer, whatever trinkets you’ve got.
Push Lights
If your kitchen has some dark corners, check out this solid invention: the push light. Brighten up dark pantry shelves or add under-cabinet / under-shelving lighting. This battery-operated wonder will add the glitz and glam of a sophisticated kitchen at quite an affordable cost.
Cleaning Supplies Tray
Inexplicably and ironically, cleaning supplies tend to make a mess in the cabinet where they’re stored. Whether it’s leaks or bottles gone awry, a great way to keep this jumble under control is to store them in a tray (or our friend the basket works here, too). Keep cabinet bottoms clean / unstained and bottles neatly together.
