In need of a last-minute Halloween party idea? This Halloween cocktail—the dark & stormy—is super quick and easy to make and it’s deranged melon ball accoutrements can be put together just as fast, too. It beckons the title, the Dark & Spooky.
The most spine-chilling part? The melon balls become more deranged-looking as time passes and is bound to scintillate your guests. To top it off, they make for one perfectly sweet and spine-chilling snack. Muahahaha!
A Spooky (and Silly) Dark & Stormy
Makes one cocktail
4.5 oz. ginger beer
2 oz. dark rum (of choice)
Splash of lime
Dash of bitters
Lime wheel, for garnish
Spooky balls, for garnish
- Half your cantaloupe and use a melon baller to obtain as many spooky balls needed. Pat dry with a paper towel and impale each on a skeleton hand cocktail pick.
- Lightly dab two drops of gel icing to adhere googly eyes. Dab a single dollop of gel icing for the mouth. Let rest on a paper towel until ready for use. Note: must be made right before serving!
- In a lowball glass, add ice. Pour in ginger beer, lime juice and top with a dark rum for a layered effect.
- Add lime wheel for garnish—as well as spooky melon balls—and serve immediately. Kindly ask guests to stir their halloween elixir
