My Modern Eclectic Glam Home・
2018 Spring Home Tour
Hey, hey frands!! Welcome to the Brigham Craftsman. I’d like to cordially welcome those who’ve just come from Jolie’s sweet little springy spot! Spring is in the air; can you sense it? I sure can after a tundra-like winter. Without further adieu, let’s get this blossoming ball rolling, shall we?!
Welcome to my blank canvas—a.k.a. the living room—where ombre is my hombre. I was so excited to bring back my favorite ombre melon-colored curtain panels I found at Target last year for a bit of spring whimsy. Talk about instant gratification!! Although they may or may not have shrunk in the dryer. This girl got 99 problems and learning to properly launder is surely one.
The Blue Wonder was craving some spring primping. I scored a Justina Blakeney Ayo Sun pillow from Target and an indigo shibori pillow from HomeGoods. Both were a steal at or under $20! My current jungle of 60 plant babies is creeping its way into the living room—a new majesty palm reaching great heights on my two-tier marble and brass console table (a $44 auction score!) and the carnivorous pitcher plant my sweet husband, Chris, surprised me with this past Valentine’s Day.
Nothing says ‘I love you’ quite like a hot pink carnivorous plant that eats those bastard fruit flies we can’t seem to locate. Je t’aime, sweetie. Je t’aime.
Side note: I have a love/hate relationship with my mantel. I love the pussywillow cuttings from our garden, but the time is coming to cover up those sconces (not remove, just cover) and create an extra large piece or art OR find an arched, antique gilt mirror to hang. The sconces are 100% functional, but their location often interferes with my mantel goals. Need to cap those asses.
In my office, the artwork collection continues to grow. I’d like to tweak the current placement a bit more, but what I really need is more art so these Hunter Green walls are covered from head-to-toe. Also, please note the bar complete with Oban. Every room needs some kind of scotchie, scotch scotch. At least Ron Burgundy thinks so.
My DIY shelving unit got a few simple refreshes with some killer Goodwill finds, like that odd (but awesome) four-headed sculpture and wood-carved elephant bookends ($3 score!!). It also goes without saying that I’m forever in love with the early-1900s tiger oak filing cabinet which originally came from the Thomas Jefferson Memorial Library in Philadelphia.
Do you remember the giant sailboat? Part of me is missing it. I feel like it added a lot to the study-like experience. Whaddya think?
Meet my dining room. She is, hands down, the most glamazonian spot in the home. The Spanish Revival oak sideboard got a simple refresh with an antique ‘Onion Bar’ sign, whom’s origin I cannot find. Have you any info?! I moved the brass bar cart in line with the wall and intentionally placed two rattan bar stools I thrifted recently ($20 score) next to it. I have every intention of making them the stools to my new dream kitch sitch’s breakfast bar and they serve as a reminder to keep at that sheet, girrrrrl.
Not gonna lie, I’m still obsessed with the wallpaper and board and batten I built for the dining room reveal late last June. Would you be interested in reading a DIY on how to build board and batten by moi? Comment below!
Let’s be real, our master bedroom gives off the warm weather vibes off all darn year long. Aside from this cute af tuxedo cat lounging on the white bedding once and a blue 🙄, she’s the sunshine of my life every morning. The removable wallpaper is ‘Best Fronds’ wallpaper by Wallshoppe. A newer addition, I was elated to find a vintage mid century slat bench from one of my favorite local purveyors—Mid Century Collective—for both form and function at the foot of the bed.
Our first floor guest room has been inching along, but she is an artsy, modestly deco wonder in the making. Featuring the first set of furniture my grandparents bought when they got married 60 years ago, the black cerused wood set makes a bold statement. I’m really loving the monochromatic furnishings in this room.
90% of this first floor guest room is thrifted, including the black leather Selig bench, natural jute rug and, randomly enough, the Mongstad IKEA mirror. I’m in love with the look (and the price) of these brass nook pivoting wall sconces from World Market as well.
Can you guess what she’s missing? OK, you win. WALLPAPER. Obvi.
The hallway of doors got a final—and third—coat of paint: Chantilly Lace by Benjamin Moore. I love how bright it turned out after experimenting with both Graphite and Coral Glow. Sometimes you just have to keep on paintin’ until it sticks, ya know?! She’s begging me to buy a lilim runner and killer modern brass chandelier.
And just because I get some flack from my favorites about neverrrrr sharing my kitchen, here’s my awesome succulent garden full of plant babies. My sister is partly responsible for the continued plant hoarding situation. #enabler 🌿🌿🌿
Lastly, here’s a couple of close-ups of our second floor guest room. Lovingly referred to as the Indigo room, this space has been in “design limbo” for the past year. As my tastes changed and homestyle refined, she was my last standing coastal dreamboat. I’ll be joining this spring’s One Room Challenge to take her design up a notch (or like seven).
I love the Hale Navy paint color, but part of me is dreaming in deep teal. 🤔 We’ll see Indigo room, we shallst see. Again, please note the tray of nightcaps—a Brigham Craftsman requirement for all overnight guests. Just a little New England hospitality, knowwhatimsayin?!
Well, it’s been a true pleasure having you here! Now pop yo’self on over to Corinna’s boho adobe for a real jungle-icious treat. Remember to check out everyone on the blog hop below!!

I’d love to see some more info on making that board and batten! My dining room has an almost identical layout and I’d love to get some tips on how to integrate the board and batten into my original baseboards. I went with Farrow and Ball Hague Blue in my guest room and it has a little more green in it than Hale Navy if you want to teal it up a bit!
Oh, I’m delighted you’d be interested … the connection to the baseboards was a critical part in mine!! I’ll get to it, girl! Thank you so much for the real recommendation… I’m looking it up right now!! 💚😍💕
