Something Different Late Fall Home Tour

Raise your virtual hand if fall is your favorite season. Uhhh, moi. 🙋🏻‍♀️ As a fall baby, I’m totally biased and feel rather fortunate to have arrived on this Earf when the Northeast colors are at their prime (even though I was born during a hurricane ☔️😂). Gimme all the rusty orange and yellows hues, boo!

That being said, I’m pretty pumped to be part of such an incredible group of unique and über talented lady designers in this Something Different Late Fall Home Tour. Keep the inspiration flowing and make sure to visit these beauties blogs listed at the end of this post!!

Truth be told, I’m not a huuuge seasonal decorator (I mean, save for Mr. Bones II coming out of the closet on Halloween and das Christmas tree, obvyyyy). Instead of buying new, I much prefer sifting through lifetime collections of who-si-what-its to refresh any space, making small design changes to help cozy up the home and welcome the brisk, autumnal air. Swapping out a handful of design elements—such as throw pillows, blankets, florals or fuzzy rugs—will undoubtedly rejuvenate the entire home vibe. 

My living room, a.k.a. the blank canvas I love to throw color at, always feels SO alive. No matter what the season, the colorful touches lend themselves naturally in countless directions and I’m A-OK with that. Albeit, my fabulously fuzzy addition of an Overland sheepskin really dialed up dat “call of the fall.” I get lost in her sensuous sensations for a hot minute every single time my feet touches those furs.

Over in the entryway, I subtly spiced up the rattan seating with two absolutely exquisite new additions—Finley + Hopkins—from the brand spankin’ new, City Farmhouse & Co. Launched in October by one of my most cherished blogging buddies, Jen O’Brien of City Farmhouse, this handcrafted line of pillows features Jen’s hand-drawn designs inspired by nature and childhood summers spent along the coastline. They’re nothing short of luxe and, I mean, how perfect is that green?! I. Freaking. Die.

Recently, the master bedroom got a much needed refresh—the “icing on top of the cake” if you will—that I’d been dreaming about for quite some time. I craved a killer canopy bed for-like-ever, and when I stumbled across this brass canopy bed by The Novogratz, I knew I’d found the one. In a room with relatively gargantuan furniture, this sleek and modern amenity blended in without feeling overbearing and took the master up at least ten zillion notches. Yes, you read that right; ten zillion.

Strutting over to my mean, green, killer kitchen scene, I’m still enamoured with every inch of this updated space. All I want to do is cook until my heart’s content (and drool whilst I stare at every detail, of course). The shelves are starting to urge for a shuffle, but in the interim the peninsula’s been pumped up with florals from my bestie’s backyard I received back in September. Those pretty girls dried out and feature some seriously gorrrge purple-y and birch-colored hues that are to die for in fall. 

Moving to the dining room, one of my favorite recent bitty changes was swapping out the bulbs on my sputnik-style chandelier from Edison-style bulbs to miniature frosted globe lights. Instantly, it made a huge difference in how this light fixture presents.

Currently, the Spanish Revival credenza features one of the most sentimental pieces I’ve ever been gifted from a family member. My stepmom-in-law, Evie, is quite possibly one of the most spirited, creative, and talented women in my life. Back in her Texas she-shed, Evie is often creating masterpieces from the heart, including that sumptuously rusty (and drippyyy) painting that makes my heart go a’pitter-patter. I was gifted two others and I’m truly honored to be the recipient of these works. Nothing but gratitude every time I have a glance.

Over the summer, you may recall that I purchased a long-lived thrift wishlist item: a wood-carved hand chair!!!! Truly a frivolous expense, I had to have this beauty even without a known home for ‘er. Moving the Hollywood Regency bar cart into the living room doubled down by reenergizing two precious corners that were vying for a quick facelift.

And if you’re gonna imbibe, do it in style, fronds. 🥂🍹🍸

I can hardly believe it’s been two and a half years since I transformed my home office into a wondrously moody kingdom. Since I tend to fall in love with things as they are for a while, it’s no surprise not much has changed in here since (ya know, except for a new plant or tchotch or two). Driven to break up the stagnant energy, I simply rotated my thrifted executive desk 90-degrees to feature the DIY modern shelving unit as a backdrop and HOT DAMN. This room feels alive again.

I’ve got goals to completely rehash the shelf styling, change out the ceiling fan, and covering every inch of available hunter green wall-space with ahhhhrtwork, but as they say, sweet fronds, little by little…

And just in case you’ve missed it, I’ve taken on the slow task of repainting this Brigham Craftsman a deliciously dark green (have you begun to notice a trend? 🤣). We recently took our Christmas cards photos with this sexy shade as our backdrop and you’ll notice in these few outtakes how Murphy, our 60-lb. lap dog, was being so agreeable. #dopeymutt
